Let's Talk Shop!

As a small company or start up,  you have special photography needs. Finding the right photographer will define the look and feel of your brand for years and be the difference between selling or sinking.

How This Works

To get the ball rolling, we need to know who you are and what are your goals. Through phone calls, emails or in person we sit down and discuss what makes your product special. Together we will look at images that inspire you and fit your brand so we can identify the right look for your website photography.

Based off that conversation, we might suggest a test shoot. It is how we can confirm in a visual way that we heard you in our meetings and that you can trust us to shoot your product consistently the way you want it. Our goal is to make this as easy as possible for you. We will schedule the test shoot for a time you have access to your computer or phone and send you live screen shots of what we are producing as the test goes on. This gives us all the chance to change direction if something doesn’t look right and find the solution that is right for your products.

The final step is to shoot! At this point, we will have locked in on what angles, lighting and compositions you need for all components of your product photography. This way once we receive your product we can get the ball rolling and shoot it right away.

Our Work Flow

Prep and Ship

Prepare your inventory as much as you can and make sure everything that needs to be included in the shoot is accounted for. If your product is form sensitive (handbags, shoes, etc) make sure the items are packed well so they don’t become scratched or squished in transit. Usually however you would ship to a customer is a good general guide to how you should send it to us.

Style

Once your shipment arrives, we will inventory and unpack. This is when we will steam/style/set and any other treatments that might be needed to get your product camera ready. If we have your inventory list, we will notify you here if there are any discrepancies.

Shoot

All that work leads up to the quickest part, shooting. Following the guidelines of our testing (if we needed a test) we will shoot your product. One of the major parts of shooting E-commerce photography is consistency. Since websites often show images of different products on a grid, we keep your images consistent for a smooth look on your website. Each shipment that comes will be matched to the previous photography guidelines we created for you so that will always match.

Spruce Up

Your images are color corrected, contrast adjusted and retouched as need (unless otherwise specified) and after shooting the team gets to work making sure the images are as accurate as possible. If you need any special services, like custom files sizing, cropping or naming, we will do that too. Our goal is to send you images ready to use.

Send

Once we’ve wrapped your shoot, we will carefully pack everything back up so it will ship without damages and send it back to you. In the meantime, we will also upload your files and send you a link so you can download them right away. It is that easy.

Frequently Asked Questions

We do everything we can to help make this process as seemless and easy as possible. Generally though, there are still some questions you may have! If you don’t see your question here, please feel free to contact us.

Location Shooting

There are times for one reason or another that it makes sense to have us come to your location and shoot. Our studio is stocked full of gear that we can transport to you and as long as we can carve out a spot big enough to shoot what you need, we can take the pictures on location.

Confidentiality

We don’t outsource your images at any point. That provides you with the piece of mind of knowing that no one but the Product Photo Lab team will see your product or product images.

What kind of clients do you work with?

Product Photo Lab doesn’t have just one type of client, but we do notice some trends. Generally, our clients are companies that have an in house photography team but they aren’t achieving the level of images to do justice to the products. We are happy to help our with an overflow of work but often companies want more once they see what we do and how much better those products sell.

What is your turn around time?

It will always depend on the quantity coming and how much notice we are given that it is arriving. A good rule of thumb is if you can get us a delivery date 2 weeks in advance, we can get your shots done within a week. Of course, we are always happy to help with last minute needs too!

What are your rates?

Photography has a lot that can go into it. Our rates are usually calculated averages of the time, team, and supplies it takes to get your shots. We offer per shot pricing to help make it predictable and easy to budget.

Everyone is super happy with the images… Thank you so much for everything.
